Terms and conditions, all you need to know

Vaillant Repair Service is an independent Vaillant and Glowworm boiler service and repair specialist based in South Yorkshire.

If you are in need of a Vaillant or Glowworm boiler repair and your boiler is not within it’s guarantee, please have a look at the following options, so you can decide which option works out best for you.

If your boiler is still under guarantee, for you suspect that it is still under guarantee then you are best off speaking to Vaillant directly to check.

Vaillant Repair Service Limited is an independent company. We are not affiliated with Vaillant GMBH in any way, and we do not cover warranty claims for Vaillant GMBH, we only repair Vaillant and Glowworm boilers that are bout of warranty.

We have a wide range of options and payment plans available to suit most customers needs.

Please note that we do work on Most Vaillant ecoTEC boilers manufactured from 2005 onwards, but there are some exceptions.

We work on most Vaillant ecoFIT boilers with some exceptions.

We only tend to work on Glowworm boilers which are essentially derivatives of the Vaillant ecoFIT range of boilers, which includes the current generation Glowworm Energy and Glowworm Ultimate 3 boilers.

All the boilers we work on and don’t work on are listed towards the bottom of this document. 

Vaillant and Glowworm fixed price repairs

Your Vaillant or Glowworm boiler repaired with one visit.

When it comes to Vaillant and Glowworm boiler repairs, we always endeavour to get broken boilers up and running with one visit, or on the same day.

We are able to do this because we are highly trained on Vaillant boilers and their derivatives and we carry all the common spares that tend to fail on the boilers we work on.

Vaillant Repair Service offers our customer’s a choice of two fixed price repair options to help get your Vaillant or Glowworm boiler back up and running as quickly and efficiently as possible, by one of our highly trained engineers.

Most parts on the Vaillant and Glowworm boilers we repair are covered under the fixed price repair with a few exceptions. 

Any parts fitted to your Vaillant or Glowworm boiler come with a minimum of a 12 month guarantee. 

The primary heat exchanger is not covered under the fixed price repair.

The flue seals are also not covered under the fixed price repair.

Anything external to the boiler including pipework, radiators, thermostats, thermostatic radiator valve(s) and external filling loops are not covered under the fixed price repair option.

But that’s about it. Everything else within your boiler include an integral filling loop(if fitted) is covered under our fixed price repair options.  

If additional parts that aren’t covered are needed, you do have the option of paying a bit extra for these if necessary.

Option One

The fixed price repair option is a one off package designed for broken Vaillant and Glowworm boilers that aren’t within their manufacturer’s guarantee. 

All of our repairs also include a comprehensive boiler service and safety check as part of the repair. 

Your service record can either be emailed directly to you, or you can have a physical copy printed off at your request, or both.

All prices quoted are inclusive of VAT.

The cost of a fixed price repair is £400. This is the total cost of the service and repair assuming you pay upfront.

Sometimes we ask for a £100 deposit before we attend your property to make an assessment of your boiler, this is at our discretion.

This £100 deposit goes towards the cost your of repair.

The £100 deposit is refundable assuming you give us enough notice and cancel your appointment before we attend to assess your boiler.

However once we have attended your property and made an assessment of your boiler, and in the unlikely event your boiler is beyond economical repair for whatever reason, the £100 deposit is kept and is non refundable. 

This is just to cover the costs of sending the engineer out.

Most boilers we work on can be repaired economically, but every so often we come across a boiler that has been very poorly maintained and often these are beyond economical repair.

If your boiler needs additional parts that aren’t covered under the fixed price repair, you do have the option of paying a bit extra for the required components.

Option Two

Option Two is the same as Option One, except you can pay for the boiler repair in instalments. 

You can choose to pay over 6 months, 9 months or even 12 months with interest free payments.

The total cost of Option Two is £450 which is inclusive of VAT and is interest free.

The stipulation with the instalments option is that you need to make an initial deposit of £100, and then pay the balance over the instalments.

Option Two Fixed Price Repair Example:

Say you decide to pay over 6 months. You would pay an initial deposit of £100 for the service and repair, and then 6 monthly instalments of £58.33 via Direct Debit, which would come to a total of £449.98 which is inclusive of VAT of course.

Say you decide to pay over 9 months. You would pay an initial deposit of £100 for the service and repair, and then 9 monthly instalments of £38.89 via Direct Debit, which would come to a total of £450.01 which is inclusive of VAT of course.

Say you decide to pay over 12 months. You would pay an initial deposit of £100 for the service and repair, and then 12 monthly instalments of £29.17 via Direct Debit which would come to a total of £450.04 which is inclusive of VAT of course.

If your boiler can’t be repaired under the fixed price repair:

If your boiler can’t repaired under the price repair option you do have other options available.

However if a boiler is deemed to be beyond economical repair, then we will only charge you £100 to cover the time the engineer has spent travelling to the jobs, and for the time spent on the job assessing your boiler etc.

If the fixed price repair option doesn’t cover all the parts you require for you boiler repair, then you do have the option off paying a bit extra to cover the repair.

We will always try our best to come up with the best solution for our customers to get their broken boilers up and running as efficiently as possible.

If we deem that your boiler is beyond economical repair, then we would generally recommend a replacement boiler as the best option.

Having said that, we prefer repairing and saving boilers as much as possible, but if the cost of the parts and time required doesn’t make sense then that’s when we would recommend a repair.

But we prefer boiler repairs and routine maintenance over boiler replacements.

Also for all the Vaillant and Glowworm boilers we work on, parts are still available and getting parts is never an issue, even a lot of the older Vaillant boilers we don’t work on anymore, most parts are still readily available. 

So if we suggest a boiler replacement over a boiler repair its not because parts availability is an issue, or we don’t know how to fix it. We only ever suggest a boiler replacement because we believe that’s what’s in your best interest.

We do also offer a Vaillant Boiler Care Plan, at an additional cost, which covers you for future repairs – we have a separate PDF document for this which you can download.  Whether you choose to take out the boiler care plan that we offer or not, any parts fitted to your boiler are covered by a minimum 12 month guarantee.

What’s covered and what’s not under the Vaillant and Glowworm fixed price repair service

Most of the components within your Vaillant or Glowworm boiler are covered under the Vaillant Repair Service fixed price repair, with a few exceptions.

The current boiler care policy we offer covers the boiler only and not external controls such as thermostats etc, and does not cover any other part of your central heating system

The entire primary heat engine or heat exchanger and its support brackets, including all attached components which includes the spy glass, thermal fuse, the burner door seal(s), flue seal(s) and the boiler flue itself are a few of the parts of your boiler which are not covered by the policy.

The Giannoni and Sermeta primary heat exchangers inside the Vaillant ecoTEC boilers and some of their Glowworm derivatives that we provide boiler cover for, are made from high quality stainless steel, and are extremely reliable in our experience and don’t fail very often.

The alloy heat exchangers in some of the other Vaillant models such as the ecoFIT and Glowworm derivatives that we cover, are also very high quality, and in our experience these heat exchangers don’t fail don’t either.

If the boiler has been professionally installed to a good standard then the flue seals generally don’t leak either.

The flue seals are not expensive, however depending on the model and how the boiler is installed, they can be very time consuming and labour intensive to replace. 

The good news is that often we will just replace failed flue seals if you make a claim as a goodwill gesture but this is at our discretion.

Also that’s assuming the boiler and flue are installed in such a way that makes replacement of the flue seals possible within a reasonable amount of time.

The boiler casing itself is also not covered however these don’t usually fail and generally only need to be replaced on poorly maintained boilers where an internal condensate leak has corroded through the casing and this would be picked up upon and initial inspection.

The flue is also not covered but like most of the other parts of your Vaillant or Glowworm boiler which are not covered, the flue cannot fail if it was installed correctly, and usually the only thing that can damage or destroy a flue is a leaking flue seal which has got unnoticed.

The condensation produced by modern condensing boilers is slightly acidic, and will quickly corrode through any metal components of a boiler faulty quickly if left unchecked.

A leaking flue seal is generally something that would be picked up upon the initial thorough service and inspection of your boiler when you take out your policy, so its not something to generally worry about.

Vaillant and Glowworm boiler models we cover

Currently we offer the boiler care policy for the following makes and models;

Most Vaillant ecoTEC combination and system boilers and some of the heat-only versions of the Vaillant ecoTEC.

Vaillant ecoTEC combination boiler models include the Plus and Pro versions including the Pro 24 and 28, and the Plus 824, 825, 831, 832, 837 and 838.

Currently we do not offer fixed price repairs for the Vaillant ecoTEC Plus 937 and 938 combination boilers (with stored hot water tanks at the back).

These boilers are based on the standard 837 and 838 conventional combination boilers, however all components of the boiler associated with hot water side of the boiler are not included.

These include the actoSTOR pump, the cylinders themselves, the cylinder(s) expansion vessel, actoSTOR pump and printed circuit board that controls the actoSTOR pump.

Also any pipework and gaskets, seals and O-rings associated with actoSTOR pump or cylinders etc.

We cover most Vaillant ecoFIT combination, system boilers and heat-only, and their Glowworm derivatives including the Glowworm Energy and Glowworm Ultimate 3 combination and system boilers.

Terms and conditions

We don’t generally provide fixed price repairs for any Vaillant boiler models manufactured before 2005, and any Glowworm models currently older than the Energy and Ultimate 3 manufactured from around 2011.

These include models such as the old Vaillant TURBOmax and Vailant ECOmax boilers.

There are also other Vaillant ecoTEC derivatives which are essentially hybrid boilers, and not true ecoTEC boilers in our opinion and these are not covered which include but are not limited to the following boilers;
ecoTEC Sustain and ecoTEC exclusive boilers.

Also whilst we do service and repair light commercial Vaillant boilers, we don’t currently offer boiler care for these boilers.

Yes of course. Any parts fitted to your Vaillant or Glowworm boiler either during routine servicing or repairs are genuine Vaillant and Glowworm parts.

Do parts come with a guarantee?

Yes any parts fitted to your Vaillant or Glowworm boiler are genuine Vaillant and Glowworm parts which come with a minimum 12 month guarantee.

Can you guarantee that you will have my boiler fixed within one visit, or even on a weekend?

Due to the vast number of spares we carry for Vaillant and Glowworm boilers, we can generally have most boilers repaired within just one visit or on the same day (even weekends).

However there will be times during busy periods when we may have used certain stock items and we have not been able to replenish our stock quick enough before we attend to your boiler issue.

For this reason mainly we can’t always guarantee a first time fix, but we have an extremely high success rate, even on weekends.

Common issues with Vaillant ecoTEC boilers

Why use us to repair your Vaillant boiler?

For a start we’re Gas Safe registered, extensively trained on Vaillant boilers, and we carry most of the common parts for the Vaillant ecoTEC range of boilers.

Also we won’t rip you off, once we’ve made a thorough assessment of your Vaillant boiler, we will know exactly what parts it needs and how long it will take to repair.

At this point we can provide you with an exact repair price or close estimate, and assuming you’re happy to go ahead then we can get to work getting your boiler up and running again.

We won’t condemn your boiler after 20 minutes of scratching our chins, and trying to look like we know what we’re doing! We only condemn boilers if they’re dangerous or beyond economical repair. Even then, reluctantly!
