In 1967 Vaillant conceived a device which for the first time combined heating and a hot water supply in a single combined unit – the birth of the combi boiler. This unit was known as the Combi-Geyser VCW 20.

Today the VCW 20 lives on as the Vaillant ecoTEC Pro and Plus combination boilers.
Vaillant have long been brand leaders in the UK for boilers. Whilst Vaillant boilers have been simplified in design over the years, they have become more and more sophisticated at the same time.

Vaillant boilers we don’t generally work on

We typically don’t work on Vaillant boilers older than the ecoTEC manufactured before 2005.

Having said if you do have an older Vaillant boiler that needs a repair – such as the older turboMAX models manufactured from 2000 to 2005, then we may at our discretion help you out with a repair.

It just depends on how busy we are at the time.

It is also worth noting that we don’t carry many parts for these older models anymore and because of this most of the time we cannot offer a first time fix unfortunately.

How to tell when your Vaillant boiler needs a repair

Obviously if your Vaillant boiler stops working suddenly and won’t reset is a good way of telling that your boiler needs a repair!

Sometimes though you may be able to reset your Vaillant boiler and it may keep working intermittently for a while, but often your boiler will stop working altogether at some point.

If you are experiencing any of the following fault codes intermittently, then it will generally be a good idea to get your Vaillant boiler looked at by a professional;

So if you intermittently experience the F27, F28, F29, F61, F62 or F75 fault codes, then it is worth getting your Vaillant boiler checked over before it stops working altogether, as it probably will at some point.

How much does a Vaillant ecoTEC service or repair cost?

The cost to repair your Vaillant ecoTEC boiler is going to be determined by the boiler model, its age, what parts it needs and how long it is going to take to repair.

If your boiler requires a repair and you would an estimate as to how much your boiler may end up costing, the best thing to do is give us a call.

We will ask you for some details such as the age of your boiler, the exact model, when it was last serviced and for the details of any fault code it may be displaying.

At this point we should be able to provide you with a rough estimate as to what a service or repair might cost.

Common issues with Vaillant ecoTEC boilers

Common issues with Vaillant ecoTEC boilers can vary depending on the type of boiler.

For Vaillant ecoTEC combination and system boilers common issues can include; boiler leaking and losing pressure, boiler leaking only when in use but not losing pressure, or boiler needing to be re pressurised every time after using central heating.

If your Vaillant boiler is losing pressure it will generally result in an F22 fault code.

Fans can sometimes fail on Vaillant ecoTEC boilers which generally results in an F32 fault code.

Pump sensors or pumps can fail, especially on early models which generally results in an F75 fault code.
